I believe a unique way to celebrate this festival is to spread the joy of this festival through the art of poetry that reaches out to all Muslim- worldwide and I don’t have to know anyone personally to do so.

All that Glitters
A poem in celebration of Hari Raya Adilfitri 2022
My dear Muslim brothers and sisters,
Being a devoted Muslim calls for sacrifice
Muslims are big-hearted, kind and friendly
That’s a feeling that’s lovely, and so nice
It is by no means an easy task
For one solid month, Muslims will fast
Muslims stand out, and like the stars – they glitter
During the Hari Raya festive season
I see love and happiness being spread
On the radio to the kronchong music. I listen
This religious holiday is a time for forgiveness
Putting family in their hearts first
It’s also a time for making amends
For every girl and boy, woman and man
Muslims stand out, and like the stars –they glitter
During Hari Raya, Muslim’s welcome all into their homes
For it is here that the spirit of giving and love has grown
I love the multi-coloured lights displayed on windows
It gives a feeling of warmth that makes my heart glow
It is heart-warming to see families in dazzling attire
Caring for one another and the community – with a strong desire
I wish all Muslims, here in Singapore and the world A “Selamat Hari Raya Adilfitri” 2022 Time to taste your delicious pastries and cuisine Which I can confidently say are, second to none For sure, Muslims stand out, and like the stars – they glitter
